Three-card tarot
A three-card tarot spread is three jobs, not three fortunes. In Omen they are situation (what is actually on the table), obstacle (what is crossing the path), and path (how to walk it from here). That is past-present-future translated into a decision you can still make. Bring a question with a body.
When to use it
Use three cards when there is a real fork: leave or stay, send or wait, take the offer or keep the known room. Use it when a daily card already named a feeling and you need structure, not another Major.
When not to
Do not use three cards to quiz the deck about someone else’s secret interior. Do not use it as ten cards in miniature by assigning every pip a subplot. If the matter has a long history, a house, and weather, that is a Celtic Cross — after you can already name the question.

Situation
Not the story you tell at dinner. The actual room: the contract, the silence, the money, the body in the doorway. If this card feels too plain, you may have been decorating the problem.
What is crossing the path
Obstacle
What crosses you is not always an enemy. Sometimes it is a loyalty that has expired, a habit that still collects rent, a fear wearing your voice. Read this position as interference, not as a villain you get to exile without cost.

Question (invented): “Should I take the job that would move me.” Situation: Two of Wands energy in a Major would read as a threshold already in the room — the offer is real, not a fantasy. Obstacle: The Devil as crossing might name the golden chain of the current role, not a cosmic no. Path: The Chariot would not shout “go”; it would talk about holding the reins instead of being driven by the louder animal. The ruling would belong to you. Questions people actually ask
Is three-card tarot always past, present, future?
Often, in little white books. Omen uses situation, obstacle, and path so the spread serves a decision instead of a timeline you cannot live in. You can still hear time in the cards. You do not have to pretend the third card is next Tuesday.
How do I phrase a question for a three-card spread?
Use a question you could act inside of. “What is actually on the table if I leave” beats “what does he think of me.” Six to a few hundred characters is enough. Performance language wastes the cut.
Is Omen’s three-card spread free?
The opening is free: all three cards and a short line each. A deeper ruling on the same cards exists when the opening is not enough. The cards do not reroll to sweeten a paywall.
